Sarah had always been self-conscious about her dark circles and eye bags. Despite getting plenty of sleep and drinking lots of water, nothing seemed to help. She tried concealing them with makeup, but the concealer never seemed to provide enough coverage and the eye bags always seemed to peek through.

Sarah felt frustrated and depressed. She avoided social situations and photographs, feeling embarrassed about her appearance. She tried all sorts of remedies, from cucumber slices to tea bags, but nothing seemed to work.

One day, Sarah decided that she had had enough. She was tired of feeling self-conscious and wanted to find a solution. She turned to her dermatologist for help.

During the cause of their conversation, the dermatologist told her what she has never heard,  Melanin is the substance (pigment) that gives your skin its color. Leakage in the capillaries, due to low levels of Vitamin K or stress, beneath the skin is another major reason. The blood spreads out under the skin and becomes oxidized forming a dark purple hue. This color shows through the skin and gives the appearance of dark circles.
